Pre-teen Bedroom Inspiration
My daughter S. is turning 12 soon and she has asked if I can re-do her bedroom.
Me: "Why? Don't you like the baby pink in your bedroom?"
S.: "Really?? You need to ask?"
Me: "But you picked out the colour?"
S.: " I was 6 years old!!!"
ok.
So, I think I'm going to give her a WHOLE bedroom makeover as birthday gift!
She has decided this year she doesn't want a birthday party, only have a friend over for a sleepover or something. Easy peasy.
She really like this colour combo from Sarah's House.
I'm thinking if I build a platform for the bed then she can have more storage or maybe a trundle for sleepovers??
Her birthday is November 4th so I should just get a move on it.
What do you think of my plans so far.

And I'm thinking an alcove like this...
(since S. tried unsucessfully to put a curtain up already)

Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers.
This weekend there will be no turkey and trimmings at my house.
However today there was a party at my house.
We had a party for this guy...
My Father-in-Law.
Yesterday was his birthday , he is now 74.
In Januray 2008 he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
He lost his voice.
He went through a couple of rounds of chemo and radiation.
Last December '09 he had a brain tumour removed.
He lost some mobility and it affected his short memory.
He had to endure more physical therapy, chemo and radiation.
He is now having difficulty with dementia.
This Thanksgiving I am thankful, that he was here to enjoy another birthday
and play hockey with the boys!
Happy 74th Birthday Rab!
Love you to the Moon and Back!
Bette

Saying Goodbye
I stepped outside today, cause I heard voices in the backyard.
The pool closing people were here.
(I've been using the same pool opening/closing place for a bunch of years now so they know where everything is)
This is what they left me with...
And this is when it hit me!!!
When ever I see that cover on... I KNOW snow is on it's way sooner than later.
We added that safety cover last year.
It's supposed to hold about 200lbs.
(not that I've tested it)
(and not that I weigh to 200 lbs either)
I want to make sure that if little A ever got an inkling to run accross it, he'd be safe(er).
(I hope I've scared educated him enough, that he wil never try it)
(sorry for bluriness) |
Then I walked around the corner of my garden...
and saw this last little pretty one.
And these two holding on for dear life.
Just the last little bit of colour in my garden.
Goodbye garden and pool until next Spring.
Sleep tight.
Have you laid your garden/backyard to rest yet??

Are you ready for Winter?
I know... I know... Fall JUST started (Sept 22.). But guess what?
Winter is right around the corner. (blech)
(December 21st to be exact, although around these parts, it will seem to be earlier)
I'm not a Winter girl at all... but I try.
Every year around this time I always seem to neglect important parts around my home (inside and out).
Like...
- Replacing furnace filters
- House plants get forgotten outside
- Put Cover back on Air Conditioner
- get Carpets cleaned
- get out Winter Clothes for kids
- get Rain Barrel emptied
- etc, etc, etc
And then the holidays hit and I've done nothing to prep for Winter.
My goal is to be done well ahead of the Holidays, this year!
So, from October 15 - November 15 I will be hosting
Getting Ready for Winter Link Party!!!
The link party will go up every Thursday.
You can link any project that involves getting your home or life ready for Winter.
Won't you join me?

Fall School Trip to a Farm
Yesterday, I joined little A's Junior Kindergarten class for a trip to a nearby Farm.
Although it was a chilly day, and the weather forecast said rain, it was a fun day for all.
(didn't rain after all)
There was a Corn Field Maze, but the teachers thought it would be best if the kids did this maze instead.
(all the girls, took their time to find their way out, the boys not so much.
They climbed the hay until they got out)
The kids were given oats to feed the animals.
See the one in the black & white? (yeah I see you looking at me)
He tried to eat my backpack when I had my back to him and I got a little too close.
Never turn your back on a cow, people!!!
Just before eating our lunch on these benches.
A tube-slide!
Two seconds before he fell off the bench he was standing on.
He loved this horse swing!
Have you visited a local farm yet this Fall?
